Dry Soap: The Benefits of Using Natural and Sustainable Soaps

It seems that every time you turn on the television or check social media, you are inundated with stories about environmental crises or how traditional products might harm you. Some of the leading issues in the beauty market are the use of dyes, phosphates, parabens, and more.

For many people, it comes as no surprise that many of the products used on their skin in the past could have caused significant damage. For example, alcohol-based soap formulas typically dry out the skin, resulting in flaking and painful cracking, especially during the dry winter season.

The problem is that so many beauty products depend on ingredients and chemicals that can damage the skin. Most of the time, the primary use of these ingredients is to create unique fragrances or promote proprietary recipes.

However, as with many products, commercialization and the pursuit of profit result in unnecessary and overcomplicated products. The current concern for the environment and focus on individual beauty and health shed a spotlight on poor or unethical manufacturing practices. Today, consumers want to purchase beauty and skincare products they understand. Therefore, it is about simplifying the products and removing many questionable ingredients.

Dry Soap and Plant-Based Ingredients

Dry soap is a natural or less produced soap. It is free of parabens and many of the chemicals and compounds that can damage your skin. It is typically alcohol-free and stripped back to its bare essentials, which are primarily plant-based ingredients.

Unlike liquid soaps and chemically enhanced soaps, bar soaps tend to be easier on the skin and prevent the spread of germs. Additionally, dry soaps tend to be more abrasive, resulting in greater friction between the skin and the soap. The increased friction leads to greater efficiency in removing dirt and other visible and invisible debris.

Many liquid soaps can dry out the skin, especially when alcohol-based. However, dry soaps tend to focus on moisturizing the skin with ingredients like essential oils and plant extracts. Many cheaper, less-effective soaps also contain plastics and chemicals that can lead to aging and damaged skin.

Natural Ingredients and Moisturizers Promote Healthy Skin

Your bathing routine plays a significant role in the beauty and health of your skin. While diet and exercise can also benefit skin, the soaps you use can either do the greatest damage or provide tremendous benefits.

When focused on skincare, you want to find products that can both cleanse and moisturize the body. The skin does have natural functions and processes that contribute to skin cell health and production, but the chemicals and products you expose it to can restrict these biological functions.

The wrong soap can lead to inflammation, clogged pores, flaking, and much more. Using a dry soap with an emphasis on naturally occurring ingredients is one of the best lines of defense for your skin.

What kind of soap do you use? Do you read the ingredients to ensure they are safe and beneficial to your skin?
